Japanese electronic resin

"Japanese ink producer DIC has developed a liquefied epoxy resin free of epichlorohydrin (ECH) that is also high in purity and low in viscosity, and aims to commercialise the product, the company said on Monday.

Epoxy resins generally use ECH in the manufacturing process, which made it difficult to fully remove impurity chlorine from the resin.

DIC said it has succeeded in producing epoxy resin containing no impurity chlorine using a newly developed epoxidation technology that does not use ECH.

The new resin was developed to enable the production of halogen-free products that are much in demand from the electronic parts makers.

The company had also developed a new grade of epoxy resin with super high heat resistance-glass transition temperature of 350°C."
